Danielle Gerle

Mrs. Gerle has been the teacher at the Carstairs Playschool since September of 2009. She is a highly skilled and qualified teacher.  Mrs. Gerle graduated with Honors, from University of Alberta in 1996, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Sociology, minoring in Psychology. 

Mrs. Gerle is a certificatied Level 2 Early Childhood Educator issued by the Child Care Staff Certification Office within the Government of Alberta.  She also has received certificates from Parent-Child Mother Goose Program and Building Babies Brains.  Mrs. Gerle continues to attend conferences and sessions to further educate herself in Early Childhood Education.  She also has First Aid/CPR and WHMIS training.

When Mrs. Gerle isn’t teaching, she is spending time with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys cross stitching, watching hockey, and football. 

Michelle Johnson

Ms. Johnson joined our team as a Teachers Assistant in October of 2018

Ms. Johnson was born and raised in Carstairs.  She currently lives just outside of our town with her partner and two children.  She enjoys camping and reading when she is not busy being a mom.   

Ms. Johnson is a certified Level 1 Early Childhood Educator. Ms. Johnson continues to work on professional development.

Ms. Johnson is very creative and is often the person who designs our Dramatic Play centers, brainstorms new crafts and creates decorations for the party themes. Ms. Johnson’s warm personality and kind smile make her a wonderful addition to our facility. 

Jess Gerle

Miss Jess joined our team as a Teachers Assistant in September of 2025.

After many years in childcare, Miss Jess’s philosophy centers on truly understanding each child and forming a unique bond based on who they are. She believes in quickly adapting to every child’s emotional, physical, and educational needs so they feel safe, supported, and understood. Children should trust that their teachers will help them navigate emotions they can’t yet manage alone.

Miss Jess is a certified Level 1 Early Childhood Educator.

From her own experiences, she knows how vital it is for children to feel their teachers are advocating for them—helping them feel confident, cared for, and empowered to succeed rather than slip through the cracks.

Cristin Sukhetsky

Mrs. Sukhetsky started as an EA at the playschool in 2021, mainly working for Foothills Creative Beginnings with the PUF program and children who require additional supports, but also supporting staff and children at the playschool.

Mrs. Sukhetsky was born and raised on a farm north east of Carstairs where she resides with her husband and 3 children. 

She graduated from U of C with a degree in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. Mrs. Sukhetsky worked for Chinooks Edge School Division as an EA, before taking time off to stay home and raise her children.

Mrs. Sukhetsky enjoys camping and horseback riding. You will often see her around as she is a very active volunteer with 4H and lunch program at CES.

Christina Longmuir

Mrs. Longmuir was occasionally a substitute EA for the playschool, and decided to join our team full time in April of 2023. She too assists both Foothills Creative Beginnings and Carstairs Playschool.

Mrs. Longmuir is a certified Level 1 Early Childhood Educator. She gained lot of experience in past employment as an EA in a school setting. She has her First Aid/CPR.

Mrs. Longmuir lives on a farm north of Carstairs with her husband and two children. She enjoys camping, cooking, gardening, making stained glass and crocheting.

Mrs. Longmuir is also an active volunteer within our Carstairs community.
